Stroke in Children
A stroke in children occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is suddenly blocked or reduced, or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. This prevents the brain from getting enough oxygen and nutrients, which can damage brain cells.
Although stroke is more common in adults, it can also occur in infants, children, and teenagers. Pediatric stroke is a medical emergency, and early recognition and treatment are very important to reduce long-term effects.
